PROCRASTINATION!
I don't think I'm the only writer who puts things off unless there's a deadline. Unlike many writers, I find it hard to come up with good ideas. Once I do, I'm on a roll and there's not stopping the writing.
I think maybe I use my lack of ideas as excuses to procrastinate, because I love writing so much I can't think of any other reason.
Like the third part of the Novel Approach course. I had absolutely no idea where the story was going to go at this point and now I do! So there'll be lots and lots of writing this evening.
So, I'd better get myself in gear (after being at work today) and empty the dishwasher, put a few other things away, and make tomorrow's lunches.
And, by the way, I bought a bathroom sink and faucets today. After three years, our bathroom is FINALLY going to be finished! Yay!!

Far too late ...
I hate these hormones sometimes. At least I think that's what's been keeping me awake the past few nights. I've slept like the proverbial baby for months and now -- wide awake again. I thought those sleep disturbances were over.
Handed in my second instalment on the book and I'm not as pleased with it as the first. I think I handed it in too soon and I'll take some time on my day off tomorrow to go over it and edit/revise it until I'm pleased with the result. That's ultimately what matters.
I think I should also be trying to enter a few more contests and so on -- expand my writing beyond the book I'm working on. My problem is coming up with an idea. Once I've got that, the writing just comes.
Off to bed with me for now. 12:42 a.m.

Okay. Well, wow ... here I am.
Writing my first post on my first blog is a little more difficult than I thought.
I'm sitting here with a very sore back. I'm glad I work at a hospital because, without the drugs and the care of my nurse friends I would have ended up on a stretcher (if I had actually been able to walk over to one and lay down) and never been able to drive home.
But now I'm here. I have a whole day stretching ahead of me and I can't do a single thing because of the darn back. The most comfortable chair in in the whole house for my back just happens to be the one in front of my computer. Does that not tell me something?
Last Wednesday was my first class in a year-long course called "A Novel Approach". By the end of 2010 eaach participant will have the first draft of a nove.
Yes, I did hand in my first 3,500 words. Yes, I do hae an idea of what I want this book to be about and where the story will go. Yes, I DO want to get those ideas down on paper.
But here I sit, procrastinating.
GET TO WORK!
